INTRODUCTION AND WELCOME: Those attending: Matt Howell, Angie Rogers-Howell,

SECRETARY REPORT: Minutes approved as presented.
TREASURER REPORT: Financial report approved as presented.
PRESENTATION OF AWARDS: Award were presented to Mary Ann Stroeh (REACH
Ministry, as an organizer of food pantry, backpacks for the weekend, serving two elementary
Schools and middle school, to James Dalton for his service to the Yorktown Chamber and to
Chris Day for service to the Yorktown Chamber.
TOWN REPORT: Scheduled council meeting to present summary of Mounds Lake project. No official action to take place at 2/17 meeting but will revisit topic at March meeting. Rich Lee
Attended Stellar Communities meeting and after meeting it was determined that Yorktown would be better served with Indiana Main Street Program. Park Board – Committee met to put together activities and events to attract people to remain after the 4 for the 4th Run. These events include cardboard/duck-tape race, canoe event, duck race, hot dog eating contest, bounce houses, dunk tank, and face painting. Odd Fellows group has agreed to allow the use of their gambling license for this event.
SCHOOL REPORT: Report on I-Step Testing information and consequences for opting out of
Testing presented. Eight wrestlers going to State competition, four girls’ swimmers went to
State competition and did well. E-Learning Day scheduled, had 97% participation in first event,
Two more scheduled for Feb. 28 and Good Friday weekend.
PROGRAM: Presented by Matt Howell and Angie Rogers-Howell regarding Web design, print marketing, newsletters, etc. They presented examples of Web design and marketing campaigns that had been successfully completed. Matt invited participation in East Center Indiana Media
Group that meets at Innovation Connector. He indicated their company, Farmhouse Creative, had acquired accounts from Printing Creations and was available to provide ongoing service to
those clients. Questions and comments were welcomed.
MISCELLANEOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS: Car show scheduled for Aug. 2< 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Morrows Meadows. Moneys earned will be donated to various Veterans organizations; YCON Festival will be held May 2, in block surrounding the Nazarene Church. There will be 40 vendors and lots of activities for the entire family; March 20, ITC Hoops 12-5 p.m., drawings and fun; YWCA Rummage Sale, 2/21 downtown YWCA, 310 Charles St. to benefit women and children’s shelter, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.; WIBU monthly luncheon, 2/18 – 11:30 a.m., program Five Love Languages of the Business World; Waters of Yorktown to host Easter egg hunt on March 28, Mother’s Day Fashion show on May 3 at 2 p.m., second annual fish fry on July 2, 4-6 p.m. with entertainment; Free Press advertising promotion, contact Rick Yencer; Cardinal Swim Club showing movie “Touch the Wall” at Northside Middle School, 2/23 at 5:30 p.m.; Kiwanis to offer free tax return preparation, appointments still available for March 5.
SURVEYS: Chris Day invited all to complete survey document about the chamber for feedback about how Chamber can best serve members and community needs.
BUSINESS TIP: “Those of you who have businesses with a waiting or reception area should consider placing a flat screen television in that area with a continuous loop of what the business does or what services it provides. This gives your visitor an overview of what your business is all about.”
